Actually I hope it comes to something though, since what I'm after is really the software to do such a thing (and if they start from Subversion code base....sweet!)

Looks like you really started something there. Imho, it would be nice if somebody else that's done it before took it up. That saves you the work and you still get a little cred.
Oh I agree whole-heartedly. I'm neither a version control expert, nor a PHP expert...definitely someone else is WAAAAY more qualified to come up with something. But will they?
