Masoor Daal
[b]Masoor Daal[/b] Ingredients: 1c red lentils 1c tomato sauce 4 cloves chopped garlic 2 t curry powder 2 t cumin 4 T peanut or safflower oil 2 T lemon juice 2 t sea salt 2 1/2 c warm water Heat oil, fry garlic until golden brown. Add curry and cumin. Stir. Add tomato sauce and simmer ~5 minutes. Add lentils and warm water. Cover and simmer 25 minutes. Add salt and lemon juice to taste. Optional: Substitute all or part of water with vegetable or mushroom broth. Goes well with bread of some sort.
