MySQL db in phpBB

I was updating my passwords and changed the database password (via godaddy's site) for my forum database. This caused phpbb to be unable to connect to the database. So I restored the previous password and everything is back, but the question remains: how to update the database password? Do I need to do this from within phpbb somewhere? I couldn't find it. Also, I'm confused: to connect to the database do I need to use my host login/password (this doesn't seem to work) or is it a special username for phpbb? I guess I should have kept notes on this. I want to get into the database and look at the actual tables to see how they implemented users and passwords. Regards, Jeff
