I now guess that, unless it's a simple electronics problem, that repairing the hard drive would actually cost a good chunk of money (though I have a hard time swallowing the figure that guy has presented me). X-Rant: What kills me is that we're still using mechanical devices for storage and the technology continues to improve ([url=http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/chips/0,39020354,2129861,00.htm]witness[/url], an even better FTD). This means that for the near-term future having some solid-state long-term storage mechanism that rivals hard disks are unlikely and expensive. Any thoughts?
