WoW: Duskwood Quest Stacking for level 18 up to about 28

Duskwood has lots to do, there are a few interesting quest series that will take you in and out of the area and there are also some good XP grinding single stage or simple killing and collecting quest series. I encourage people to play through The Legend of Stalvan series and the series of quests that starts at Sven's Revenge and ends with Morbent Fel. Both series of quests can be almost completely solo'ed except for the last part where you have to kill Morbent Fel. As usual though, I'm going to focus on the quests that don't have too many parts and can be stacked together so you can work them through at the same time. These quests also usually involve killing a bunch of stuff so of course you get the XP for that too.

Duskwood is split into two main areas. On the west side you'll find the Raven Hill Cemetery and on the east side is Darkshire. There are graveyards near both. The graveyard near Raven Hill actually makes it a great place to grind for a few levels. The road connecting Raven Hill is long and you'll get really tired of it. It might be faster sometimes to fly in to Sentinel Hill in Westfall and run to Raven Hill than it is to fly in to Darkshire and run along the huge road. Since Duskwood is contested territory there are also more Horde to be found attacking Alliance characters running along that road in Duskwood. When you do go to Duskwood, it's normally right after you've finished up in Westfall so the expected thing to do is enter on the bridge from the west side. The thing is it's a long treacherous run from there to the safety of the inn and gryphon point in Darkshire. Have a look at the map of Duskwood on Thottbot and you can see that if you really want to get to Darkshire first (I'm not recommending this) then you can run south from the river near the Brackwell Pumpkin Patch in Elwynn Forest. Once you make it there then head up the hill just east of the inn to find the gryphon point. If you like a challenge then you can do this early on around level 16 so you have the flight path later on when you need it.

So what do I think the best way to enter Duskwood is for the first time? Well the first few quests that you'll want to get started on are Wolves at Our Heels and Eight-Legged Menaces. These are given by Lars on the northwest corner of the map and Watcher Dodds who is near the middle of the main east-west road. The spiders and wolves that you need are near the banks of the rivers. While you're killing those spiders, there are some that drop an item for the The Totem of Infliction quest that Madame Eva in Darkshire gives you.

So it sounds like it makes sense to head in to Darkshire first if you want all your kills to count towards quests. If that's the case then you may as well pick up the Deliveries to Sven, Raven Hill and The Hermit quests from Elaine Carevin in Darkshire. While you're in Darkshire, set your hearthstone at the inn there - it'll save you a lot of running. Each of these quests requires you to meet an NPC who is on the west side of the map. They are Sven Yorgen (map), Jitters (map), and Abercrombie (map), respectively. Each of them will have further quests for you that need a return trip to Darkshire - you'll have to meet them all and complete the quests for them. To get to that side of Duskwood you should take the road leading south then west out of Darkshire. This will lead you past Watcher Dodds (mentioned earlier) around the middle of the map and a little west of him then north is Jitters and the Raven Hill Cemetery. You'll need to kill a lot of stuff in the cemetery before you're done here, but before you go in you can head west to the bank of the river that divides Westfall and Duskwood. Following the bank north will bring you near the camp where you find Sven and Lars. Along the banks of Duskwood (this one and the one to the north) you'll find plenty of spiders and wolves, you have to kill many of them for the Wolves at Our Heels and Eight-Legged Menaces quests. The nice thing is that since you've already got the Totem of Infliction quest from Madame Eva in Darkshire, the spiders will drop the Vials of Spider Venom that you need.

After meeting Sven and Lars, you can head east along the northern side of the Raven Hill Cemetery. Watch that you stay far enough north of the fence since there are some undead mobs in there that are up to level 29. The wolves and spiders north of it though are only in the level 18-22 range. Some of these wolves and spiders are also needed for the quests you've already picked up. Anyways, just past the northeast corner of the cemetery is Abercrombie - the Hermit. After meeting him you'll probably want to head back down to the south side of the Raven Hill Cemetery to get some Ghoul Fangs and Skeleton Fingers. Be wary of all those black spiders on the east side of the cemetery though - they get up to around level 25 and have a habit of ganging up on me... When you're all done don't forget your hearthstone is a quick way out back to the inn in Darkshire.

Okay, so I've covered a bunch of Duskwood quests so far and I've tried to describe a good way to stack a bunch of them to get done easily but there are a lot of variables. I doubt most players get all this done in a day so I'm going to leave off the step-by-step guide here and just give a rough description of the rest of the good grinding quests.

Commander Althea Ebonlocke of The Night Watch has a series of three quests for you to do, all titled The Night Watch. In The Night Watch (part 1), you have to Skeletal Warriors and Skeletal Mages in Tranquil Gardens Cemetery. These skeletons aren't found in Raven Hill. Tranquil Gardens is south and a little east of Darkshire. The The Night Watch (part 2) is all about grinding. 15 Skeletal Fiends and 15 Skeletal Horrors. These undead are found in both Tranquil Gardens Cemetery and the southern part of Raven Hill Cemetery. Finally for the third part of The Night Watch, you have to find 20 Plague Spreaders and kill them. They're in the north-western part of Raven Hill and mixed with some other badies that Abercrombie wants you to kill in the Gather Rot Blossoms quest (Rot Blossoms he wants). Abercrombie's quest is part of a long chain that you'll want to do but it's too complex to cover here.

The series of the Worgen in the Woods quests are also big grinding quests. The Worgen are wolf-men that you'll find in the forest north of Darkshire for levels 25 or 28 and south west of Darkshire in the Rotting Orchard for levels 28 to 31. The quests are pretty straightforward. In part one of Worgen in the Woods you need six Nightbane Shadow Weavers. All the Worgen are melee fighters except the Shadow Weavers. They're mixed in with the Nightbane Dark Runners, which you'll need to kill 12 of for the second stage of Worgen in the Woods. This is usually a good time to do the Seasoned Wolf Kabobs quest since the wolves in the area drop the Lean Wolf Flanks for that quest. The other item - Stormwind Seasoning Herbs - can be bought for a few copper at the flower shop by the canal east of the Trade District in Stormwind. Have an alternate character mail them to you along with that bronze tube...

Anyway, the third part of Worgen in the Woods is when things can start getting tough. I found that the first time through questing in Duskwood my mage wasn't tough enough to solo the next two stages right away. The Nightbane Vile Fang Worgen and Nightbane Tainted One Worgen are around level 30 and the only place I found them was near some caves south of Duskwood. Since then I've also found them at the field west of those caves (and over some steep hills). Here's a map from Thottbot. The orchard is an easier place to take them on. The last stage of Worgen in the Woods is just to bring a note from Calor to Jonathan Carevin. He's inside the building that Calor is standing in front of and he'll give you a decent reward for whacking all those monsters.

Look To The Stars is another nice quest series but it doesn't require any real grinding. It's a fun little series of four quests that isn't too hard to do and the rewards are pretty good for the level. The bronze tube you need is available from the Engineering Supplies vendor standing in the field near the house that Viktori (the quest giver) is in. It's in limited supply so the vendor will only have one at a time and it won't show up if someone's bought it recently. Just keep checking back or have a look at the auction house with one of your other characters.

Hope all that helps with your questing in Duskwood.

Actually, the last part of Look To The Stars involves grinding by fighting all those Ogre in the Vul Gol (sp?) Ogre Mound. Pretty easy guys for lvl 25 or higher characters, but watch out for the Ogre Fireweavers. Make sure to bring along some piece of equipment with fire resistance.

Oh yeah, I always forget about the stage with the ogres. They're out west then south of Duskwood. Not too tough and a good spot for grinding out a level if you ever have the need.
