WoW: Quest Stacking in Hillsbrad and Southshore
Yesterday I talked about some quests that work well together in Arathi Highlands. Since the nearest inn is over in Southshore (and some of the quests tie together), I also wanted to put together a nice stack of the quests in and around Southshore. The idea is that most of the quests here all involve fighting in the same area and some overlap so you can do parts of them at the same time.

Murlocs and Nagas by the Shore

To start with, Lieutenant Farren Orinelle is sitting at the bar in the inn in Southshore. He wants some help taking care of some Murlocs and Naga. All the quests he has are very nearby except the very last. For the Murloc ones you have to go a little west on the beach and for the Naga you have to go a little east of the docks. The Naga are also kind of near the Turtles that you need to kill for the Soothing Turtle Bisque cooking quest. He sends you to another NPC who's nearby in Southshore and at the end of all the quests he sends you to Stormwind to talk to Major Samuelson in the Stormwind Keep. That's the end of his quest series so save the last step until you're going to leave Southshore for a while anyways. Here's the full list of that quest series: The Nagas and Murlocs are great for when you get back to town and only have an hour to play before you have to log off, or you're getting too much grief from Hordies questing in the same area. The Soothing Turtle Bisque quest gives you a new cooking recipe. The turtles are easy to kill but I found that there weren't very many around so the quest can be too time consuming. If you don't finish this quest during your time in the area then there are other turtles, like the Steeljaw Snappers in Tanaris or Mudrock Spikeshell just north of Theramore, that also drop Turtle Meat. You can come back any time you have the ten pieces and the Soothing Spices (these are sold at general goods vendors in Ironforge, Stormwind and elsewhere), pick up the quest from the cook at the inn and turn it in immediately for the XP and the recipe.

Quests that lead from Hillsbrad to Alterac

There are three quests that you get in Southshore which all require you to go kill a lot of stuff up north in Alterac Mountains: Pick up all three before you head out of Southshore and you can work on them all at once. Set your hearthstone to the inn before you leave. There's a lot of stuff to kill so it'll take a while depending on your level. The mobs in these quests are around level 32 to 38 but most are under 36.

Costly Menace - Lions in Alterac Mountains

Darren Malvew at the stable in Southshore has the Costly Menace quest. He wants you to kill Hulking Mountain Lions and Mountain Lions up north of Southshore. They're actually in the southern part of Alterac Mountains, which is north of Hillsbrad. It's quite a hike but not hard to find. The lions are level 32-33 and you can do the Syndicate Assassins quest at the same time.

Syndicate Assassins - Footpads and Thieves in Alterac Mountains

The Syndicate Assassins quest is given by Magistrate Henry Maleb in the town hall in Southshore. He wants you to kill Syndicate Footpads (map) and Syndicate Thieves (map). Remember these guys are up in Alterac Mountains even though the quest comes from Southshore. To get there just follow the road north from Southshore and keep on going until you hit a crossroad. Follow that east until you can go north again (should be before you hit the river). Take that road north for a while then you have to find your way up the mountain that's appeared on your left (west) side. After you get up the hill then you'll head west some more and find the Lions and Syndicate thugs you're looking for.

Crushridge Bounty - Ogres in Alterac Mountains

The Crushridge Bounty quest comes from Marshal Redpath, you can find him in Southshore outside the town hall. He wants 9 Dirty Knucklebones - don't ask me why. To complete this one you're going to have to go a little further north on the road you take to get to the Syndicate Assassins quest. The lowest level NPC that drops Knucklebones are Crushridge Ogres found here in Alterac Mountains. The Crushridge Brutes and others mixed in with them also drop Dirty Knucklebones but they're up to a few levels higher, so be careful. All in all, I like Southshore and Arathi Highlands. On my realm I've had a lot less trouble with Horde in those areas than I do in Stranglethorn Vale. I've been through both areas with my mage and I've done some of the quests I talked about today with my hunter. Maybe there aren't as many shared Horde and Alliance quests in the area, I don't know, but I've seen the same observation from other players in chat channels. Have fun in Hillsbrad and Alterac, there are hours of quests in there and if you have some extra rest XP to burn off then this is a good place to do it in.
