There's a patch coming up Tuesday so I thought I'd try to get some last minute
XP with my hunter alt before she gets nerfed. It was a while back that I read the plans for hunters and I know some people are excited about all the new bonuses, but I think those are all just to make up for the huge loss in ranged attack power. I could be wrong, as a matter of fact I hope I'm wrong, but it's a good excuse to kill a couple hours on a Sunday afternoon with
WoW. I decided to wrap up some things in Stranglethorn Vale. There are quite a few quests in the 30-35 range that aren't hard for a hunter (right now) and Aspect of the Cheetah is really helpful since you've got to run from the Rebel Camp in the north way down to Booty Bay at the southern tip then all the way back a few times.
I had started a few quests a while back but as soon as she hit level 35, I stopped adventuring with her for a while so I could level her engineering up to 300. I wanted to get her enchanting up to 300 as well as part of my master plan to easily get good enchanted gear for my main whenever I want. Unfortunately the trainer for enchanting after skill level 225 is inside Uldaman. Doesn't work well with my solo playstyle.
I know that as an Alliance player on my server I run in to a lot of trouble with wandering Horde players in
STV, but Hordies might feel the same way about the Alliance players. At least that Undead Warlock I came up behind today might...
I think the Fishing Contest that runs in
STV on Sunday afternoons keeps a lot of players occupied and that might've made things easier for me. All the 60s were so busy that only one ?? player dismounted to kill me today.
The quests I did today were all pretty easy around level 35. I picked up some at
Nesingwary's Expedition before and some in
Booty Bay today. Today I'm writing up a quest stack you can use. Some are quests that have multiple stages but I've gone all the way down to the first stage in the quest series.
Quests from Nesingwary's Expedition
Green Hills of Stranglethorn
One of the questgivers at Nesingwary's Expedition has a total of five quests that require you to collect about 16 pages of the book
"The Green Hills of Stranglethorn". All you need for the quest are the pages. The pages of the book will drop from all kinds of different mobs around
STV. You don't need to have the quests in your log for them to drop so don't bother getting the quests until you've got all the pages. The pages also show up quite frequently on the Auction House in Booty Bay. What I did was mail the pages to an alt as I found them with my main (some dropping and some bought). Then when I had a complete set I mailed them back. Otherwise you'll frequently run out of bag space. A complete set of the pages is just 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, and 27. Because there are so many I organized them at the bank in slot numbers corresponding to the page numbers, that made it easy to pull a set and mail it when a character hits level 30ish and they can turn in the quests for max
XP.
Easy killing stuff Quests - Animal Mastery
There's someone at Nesingwary's Expedition that gives you a few series of different animal mastery quests. Pick up the first stage of each of the animal mastery quests. They're easy to do and the lowest stages can be done pretty easily as low as level 32. The different animals are all found roaming in different parts of Stranglethorn Vale. If you're working on one of the quests and see a Horde player doing the same quest, you can just leave and do some of another quest for a while. After you kill them. Taking out a Horde opponent once makes sense - if you turn your back on them they're likely to just jump you. Hanging around killing more tigers while they come back to their body is dumb and will slow you down in the long run.
The 4 Tiger Mastery quests
The 4 Raptor Mastery quests
I only did the first one of these, but I killed some Lashtail Raptors while wandering around. The first two stages are easy to do at level 35.
Finally, there are four Panther Mastery quests
Again, I've only just started the third part of this one myself. I think the Shadowmaw Panthers are the ones that can stealth. When looking for stealthed characters you can do a few things: If you're human you can use your racial ability to see them better. You can also try Cat's Eye Elixir or the Cat's Eye Ultra Goggles that Engineers can make.
Quests from Booty Bay
One of the quests that Kebok (at the Inn in Booty Bay) gives is
Bloodscalp Ears. The Bloodscalp Warriors, Shaman, Axe Throwers and others that you need to get the ears from are
all around the same place. Kebok also gives the
Skullsplitter Tusks and
Hostile Takeover quest that you need to be in the northern half of Strangletorn Vale to do, but they don't fit in as easily as the other quests I've listed. No reason not to do them they're just not that easy quest
XP.
Crank Fizzlebub, also at the Inn, will give you a quest called
Singing Blue Shards which requires you to get 10
Singing Crystal Shards. The crystal shards drop from Crystal Spine Basilisks that you can find very close to the Stranglethorn Raptors that you need to kill for the first stage of Raptor mastery (above) and they're also close to the Bloodscalp tribe that you need to get the Blooscalp Ears from.
Here's where you can find Crystal Spine Basilisks.
While you're up getting raptors, ears and crystals, you can swim west off the shore a little bit to
discover the Haunted Isle. Be sure to get the quest first. To get the quest, talk to
Krazek at the Booty Bay Inn. The questhe gives is called
The Haunted Isle but that really just requires you to go elsewhere in the Inn and talk to
Baron Revilgaz who will give you a quest called
The Stone of the Tides. The point of the quest is to find the island. The Library Scrip that you receive as a reward just gets you a book from the Stormwind Library. The book has the story of the Stone of the Tides. I found the book is good for killing time while you're on a gryphon, but not much else. So what I'm saying is: talk to Krazek, take his quests, then talk to Baron Revilgaz, then head north to find the island at the same time as you do the quests from Nesingwary. The island is full of level 37 or so water elementals. You have to go on the shore to get the quest complete - make sure it's complete before you leave. You might die there, sorry.
