World of Warcraft 1.11 Patch: Mage Talents All Over

Yesterday was the first chance I actually had to install the World of Warcraft 1.11 patch. It came out the day before but Blizzard has some well-known "issues" with getting patches out to their millions of subscribers. What I don't get is that they had the clever update software able to send me 126MB of the 151MB patch in the background while I was playing over the past little while. Why not send the rest as well? I spent a couple hours trying to track down a free mirror that I could get the thing from... Anyhow, the character I play most often is a mage, so this patch had big changes for me. The talent tree was revamped for mages and I got to redo my talents. Thanks to some input from this thread on how to use a solo mage to beat up crowds with Area of Effect (AoE) spells, I leaned toward the frost talents. Frost Warding is a cheap way to get a nice armour boost and, combined with Frostbite, gives a chance for anyone that hits you to get frozen in place for 5 seconds. I think this page shows what talents I chose last night. I left myself 5 points to play with so I can choose other options if I find problems. It seems like everyone on the forums went through similar excercises to what I did, looking over how to spend their talent points again, but most seem to look only at what they'll have by level 60. I'm at level 27 and I'm looking at what I need for level 27 up to maybe 35. After that if I feel like I'm missing out on some talent way down in another tree I can pay the gold to respec my talents again. I'm not positive this is the best strategy but I really don't want to sink points into talents in the fire tree that I'm not going to use just because one day I'll finally get Blast Wave. Now I notice that I'm totally specced in Frost, at least as far as I recall. That means that with the five points I have left I can continue down that tree and take Improved Blizzard (3 levels) and Arctic Reach (2 levels), like this. This would make my mage even better against crowds, but still do nothing for the damage dealt. It seems like all frost spec is great for playing PvE (player vs environment) on your own, but PvP (player vs player) combat or fighting with a team on your side does a lot better with an all Fire spec (at level 27). I'm happy with the build I have and I think the changes to mages in the 1.11 patch have made my character better. It's possible that I'm happy with it just because I was able to respec. Choosing talents one level at a time makes you think "what's good for me right now, with just one point" whereas making the choice for a lot of points are once makes you look at how much you can get for all your points right now. Update: Since the 2.0.1 Patch, talent trees have changed, my mage is level 48 and I've updated my build, click here to read my Mage Talent Respec after the 2.0.1 Patch.
