I knew that Sony introduced the 3 1/2″ floppy disk to the world back in 1981. I also knew that Sony was one of the inventors of the CD. I knew that many companies subsequently manufactured floppy disks and CDs. The prices of that media dropped over time throught the competition. So I thought I was picking a good contender when I bought a Sony DSC-P72 digital camera a couple years back. With this purchase I bought into the memory stick format. I was told time and time again that compact flash was the way to go. I figured compact flash was getting long in the tooth and it was time that it would be replaced.
